Piano Recital

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! To Deanna for allowing me to enter my girls in her piano studio recital. I teach my own kids piano (but no one else, been there done that, DONE with that) so it makes it hard to have a recital with only two students. The bad part about teaching my own children is that I skip lessons WAY too often and forget to make them practice. (You'd think that after all the years of having my own studio and getting so aggrivated over non-practicers and no-shows that I'd do a little better with my own. But I don't.)

So anyway, I decided to find a recital that they could be in to make us ALL practice and have lessons on a regular schedule. And it worked! AND my girls did great; I was very proud of them. Alyssa's name was drawn to go first and I think it flustered her a bit. She left out half of her second song (her best one), but ended it nicely on a tonic chord, so I'm okay with that. Her face coming down afterwards was priceless though! (I've tried and tried to get it to work, but it won't. So I'm removing that video.) Way to go girls!!! Now, keep practicing and make your mom give you a lesson.

Hurry-Scurry (Don't know why it cut the last bit of the song off.)

Magic Pony

Air or Papa Haydn (I love how she practically has to will her fingers to finish the last measure. So cute.)

Oh my goodness that brings back memories! I keep asking Anna if she wants to take lessons, but she tells me she already knows how to play :-( They did great! I was so nervous just watching them. Were you nervous?

Lee Ann- I was VERY nervous right up until Alyssa started playing. Her first song was a little iffy for me, but she got through it fine and then I calmed right down. It's WAY worse to be Mom AND teacher than it is to just be teacher.

Your girls did so wonderfully!!! I am so proud of them!!! And they aren't even mine!

i guess I should have made my students go first...If i'm still teaching by the end of the summer ;) You are more than welcome to have them perform with us!!! Otherwise our recitals are pretty short. :)

Can you believe that from the time I commented about your mom's birthday to now I've been busy, exhausted, or interrupted? It took me this long to get back and FINALLY be able to see the recital!! Wonderful!! I soooooo wish I knew how to read music from the piano. I truly believe it would have been such a joy for me in my life. I wouldn't have been very good, but I would have been good enough to enjoy myself!!

Anyway, their dresses were sooooo very sophisticated. I didn't know you dressed up for these sorts of things? I guess I should have known...maybe..

And then, to memorize, uhl. Good job girls. Memory and me go head to head, battle after battle. I don't know who wins most of the time but the battle is ugly for sure!
