First Snow of the Season

Judging from the color of the sunlight filtering through my blinds when I woke up this morning, I just knew it was going to be a snow day. Sure enough, about an hour later, the snow started falling.
Here's the view from my bedroom window. And although it is pretty and peaceful, I am NOT ready for winter. I'm just not. I don't want to give up the warm days and cold nights quite yet. I'm not ready for the trees to be naked. And I'm not ready for the kids to have to be holed up in the house for the next 6 months. But ready or not, I guess it's on its way.

The kids have an extra long weekend this weekend. So what do they decided to do with their time off? Play school of course.

They crack me up! They've got all the neighbor kids involved, and it seems like they are having a ball. What better way to spend a snowy day than inside, nice and warm, working on math problems and literature studies?

The principal and vice principal. Looks like the principal knows how to take a break.

The teachers. Jennie, be sure to blow this picture up and check out Harrison in the background. Totally made me laugh.

And the students. Cute kids, all of them. I'm so glad my kids have good friends close by to play with.

The Roomies

I LOVE to get together with my college roommates. We have such a blast together! We have fun, we relax, we eat yummy food, and we sleep in. It's fabulous. This year's reunion didn't disappoint. Jennie and I drove over to Boise, and Jennifer (Fur) met up with us at the salon and then joined us for the night at our hotel.

We had a great time getting pampered. Even if we did get scolded for being too loud because there was a client receiving a massage in the room down the hall. Whoops.

We decided to go all blue in honor of our upcoming attendance to The Blue Man Group later that night. I'm not normally a "paint on my fingernails" type of gal, so I wimped out and did tips only, but it was super fun and I couldn't stop staring at them the whole weekend long. It was AFTER our nails were painted that our spa lady (What do you even call those people anyhow?) told us she was so sick of doing blue nails (we're in BSU-blue and orange territory) that she could puke. Nice..... Sorry to add to your sickness lady.

Eating out is a given when we get together. We enjoyed, Cafe Ole, Cheesecake Factory, Idaho Pizza Co., Krispy Kreme Donuts, and a whole lot of junk. We learned the hard way that our bodies are no longer 19 and eating like a 19 year old when you're 35, doesn't end pretty. We need protein shakes for breakfast and salads for lunch now, not cold pizza and donuts. But it was fun still the same.

A stop for cheesecake is a must now that Boise has Cheesecake Factory. Man oh man...WHY is that cheesecake so blasted delicious? I crave it for days after I eat it. Probably a good thing I.F. doesn't have one.

We sat around in our hotel room and goofed off, watched a movie, and just relaxed. We reminisced about how this was exactly the way we spent a full year of our lives holed up in our dorm room. I don't know how we spent so much time in that tiny little place without going nuts.

We laugh until we cry when we're together. Sometimes, when our mouths are full of water and we start laughing, the water sprays out our noses. This may or may not have happened at the Cheesecake Factory. Yes, I think we forget that we're grown ups now.

The reason we got together this particular weekend was because The Blue Man Group was in town. What a great show they give!! Seriously a lot of fun! I would recommend it to anyone. We were so excited afterwards to get our picture with one of the blue guys. Such a great night and I'm so glad we did it!

Ladies, I can not wait until next time. We've vowed that we're going to try something new each time we get together. Who knows where that will take us. Botox and lipo? :)
