Bling on the Teeth

Alyssa's got a whole new smile today. After many tears and worries over a lose tooth, the orthodontist was able to get Alyssa's braces in place. We're doing them early in her life to try to avoid a full set later. But man, nothing makes a parent feel old like seeing their kid in braces. Wasn't it just yesterday that I had my own on? CRAZY!!!

Before

After (You can't see them real well in this picture, but she chose turquoise bands. I told her that my first day with braces, I chose black and white alternating. I looked like every other tooth was rotten. I went right back in the next day and had them all changed to white.)

And just for fun, a picture of me (and Jarom) with my braces at my baccalaureate. (I'm not crazy right? That's what it was called? It wasn't my high school graduation, it was another ceremony the night before. And would you take a look at those GINORMOUS glasses!! So funny.)

She needed braces? Her teeth look so straight! Better now than later is a good policy I think.

The pic of you and Jarom is priceless. Love the glasses and the permed hair. I'm only laughing because we've ALL been there. (Brent is doubled over right now!) :)

Your little girl is cute with or without braces and she has a gorgeous smile! I love the picture of you and your husband. I dated my husband in high school and it is crazy to go back and look at pictures that are old but seem just like yesterday.

That makes me feel old too! She looks cute! Still laughing about your every other rotten tooth! I love those stories! Great picture of you and Jarom, too bad I could not be in the background with REALLY high hair and poorly plucked eyebrows:)

We too are in the first phase of three phases for my daughter. The worst is that everytime we go in to our orthodontist that he looks at Sweet-boy and just shakes his head. The poor kid is going to have everything I fear.

I love that they can do thing so soon now and not have them going through so much awkward time with teeth all crazy.

That picture of you is priceless. I think we all looked like that, permed hair and the big glasses. But look at how happy you are!!!

braces, braces! wow...that will surely make me feel old when it happens to my boys...and yes, it sure does just seem like it was only last week when i had my own set on! (i was big on the colored bands too!)

If your daughter needs braces we might be in trouble here. Katie doesn't look like she'll need them. And Madalyn...I am sure that she will...especially since she was a thumb sucker.

I had braces, too. Got them off during my senior year. And I am apparently too old to have had color options besides the plain old silver.

I still love your picture. Alyssa looks just great with braces too. It's wise of you to get them for her now. She will never be embarrassed of her teeth as an adult.

Oh that's right! I couldn't remember why I thought this post was so funny last night until I went back and read about the baccalaureate (Sheesh, how many times do you spell that word in your life?) part. lol...so funny.

Elena! We just took the Sweet Girl's braces off after a two year stint. THAT was a happy day. Here's hoping y'all will just have to do a little bit of ortho.

Loved the picture of you; both DH and I had those awesome glasses. We were *so* cool. :-P

Braces!?! I'm so not ready for that-- Thomas has a weird cross-bite so I'm sure we'll have to do it. Alyssa looks so cute-- and so do you, especially with those glasses! :)

Oh, how adorable. I was always so jealous of those girls who got braces. I remember using paper clips to pretend we even had retainers.
