Carter Turns 5!

I don't know how or when it happened, but my little baby boy turned 5 today. Carter has been such a joy to have in our family. He's starting to turn into a wild little boy, which is fun, but also has its moments. He is definitely a rough and tumble, full on boy, and we're glad for that. At the very same time, he is as sweet and snugly as they come.

He wanted a "whale cake " which I thought would be easy enough, until he started describing a 3D version of Santa Barbara with a whale jumping out of the cake. (I'm not the Ace of Cakes!) After much discussing, we settled on bouncy balls. Thank you to Kaylin for letting me borrow her awesome ball cake mold. It was a wee-bit tricky transferring the round cake from my house to the party. Alyssa did a good job holding it, but we did get a few finger prints in it when the cake tried to roll right off the platter.

We held the party at Blast Off, the local indoor playground. These kids played hard.

We had many friends and cousins helping us celebrate and Carter came away with more loot than Christmas day. Such fun!

Make a wish, big kid!

I think it is fair to say, he had an awesome birthday!

It just clicked with me that his shirt has a 5 on it. Where did you find that? Really cute.

You have a round cake. A sphere round cake. I can't even imagine making that. Even with a mold. And then transporting it to another location. I am still trying to grapple with that.

Yay for the memories...

boo for the natural tendencies of women to try and compare themselves to each other....

I'm happy that you love to throw a good party. I still can't believe how quickly five years have passed. We'd better not blink and have another five years under our belt....

Happy Birthday Carter! Jaden was so excited when he got the invitation! He had a great time - so did Morgan and Sahara :) Thanks for letting us join the fun! I know Jaden and Carter are going to be best of buds!! We'll have to pull some strings to get them in the same kindergarten class & we'll look forward to some serious t-ball this summer!!

Wow! 5 is big. So exciting.
I hope you are all better. Sounds like a rough trip when you are all so sick!! What troopers to get through it and have some fun, too, anyway :)

Hi Elena, I'm Jewelle's sister-in-law. She referred me to you about this question. This morning I started to play around with my blog book (on the Booksmart program). And I realized that a good amount of my posts have only one picture and not that many words, so it doesn't take up the whole page. There is a lot of blank space at the bottom. It seems like a waste. So I am manually cutting and pasting some posts to go together on the same page, but it seems like there should be an easier way. Do you know how to do that? Thanks!
