It's a Beautiful Day in Our Neighborhood!

We had a beautiful weekend. In fact, today felt down right hot. (Nice weather....be still my soul!!!) We took advantage of the day on Saturday and pulled our trailer (Sacajawea) out of it's winter parking spot and de-wintered it. The kids were so bummed that we weren't going camping. "What good is cleaning the camper if we can't even use it?!" So, we decided to pull it down the road 15 minutes to a cool rest stop along the freeway, have a picnic, play with some cousins, and take a hike. We might have looked like red necks, but we sure had a lot of fun. View from the top of the rest rooms.

Let's go Sacajawea! We pulled up right next to the semi trucks and ate our fried chicken.

Time for climbing on rocks!

Rolling and sliding down the hill.

"Grammy, let's go this way."

Hell's Half Acre Hike

You guys are so fun!! I love that you just packed up and made a fun outing out of cleaning your trailer! Again, would have loved to join you!

Guess what? I'm coming to IF tomorrow! Katie flies in from DC for a week and needed a ride. I decided to let the kids ditch school and come for the week! I know it will go by so fast, but it would be fun to catch up with you if we can!

I am jealous. I have always wanted to hike around Hell's Half Acre but never have. Speaking of good weather, it is better here than there. Today it hit 92°F according to our thermometer/atomic clock on the patio, and it is in the shade. It felt kind of nice to have it be warm. Your pix made it look like it was the perfect temp: not too hot not too cold.

Thanks for inviting us, we had a lot of fun! I even heard Liberty telling the neighbor kids all about it yesterday. She made sure they got all of the important details including the supposed snakes, bigfoot footprint, and of course the troll bridge :)

Angela- YES! Call me. I've actually really been wanting to drive out and see your mom's new colt. So give me a call when things are slow.

Quin- It's a nice little walk. The Southbound side is the one we did and it has a nice view of the buttes. I don't know what the northbound side is like, we need to do that one next. And yes, the weather was perfect about 60 degrees. I loved it, now it's supposed to get yucky this week again.

Miki- Yes it was a fun on-the-whim thing to do. I think the kids really enjoyed it.

Deidra- I'm glad you commented on all those things. I should have written about them in the post.

What a FUN excursion! Love to see the trailer out again (with hopefully no black widows!). Glad you could take your mom along too! And I can't think of anything more fun (and not red-necky at all!) than a picnic at a rest stop.

OH, I love that quick little hike. It's such a nice, leasurely walk and hopefully you went early enough to beat all of the ticks. Hope you had fun.

I'll have you know that Kate not only was telling me which way to go, but we were also looking at snakes. She sure thought they were out there.
