Last Saturday night, after the party was over, Alyssa told me that her back was itching really bad. So I looked and her entire torso looked like it was on fire. It was RED and there were hives all over. It really was nasty looking. I had given her a new outfit for her birthday and as far as we can tell she had an allergic reaction to the unwashed clothing. She got in the shower and we gave her some Benedryl and they started to go away.
Sunday morning she woke up and they were back on her neck and upper arms and a few had spread down to her legs. So another shower and dose of Benedryl and she was good to go.
Then Sunday night she started complaining again and this time they were all over her thighs, inner arms and face. I have no clue what is going on. We just keep giving her Benedryl and hoping that her throat doesn't swell. So far so good. I guess if they come back again today I better call the doctor and see if there is something more we should be doing.
Here's her thigh and face (I know she looks completely pathetic) from Sunday night.

oooh! poor thing. Hive's are miserable. Is she puting any new lotions on?
thanks for the recipe!
Lee Ann
Well, we did put lotion on her hands and oil of olay on her face, and foot lotion on her feet at her party. All of which were new to her. But don't you think that her hands and face and feet would have broke out instead of her torso first? Who knows, it is very strange to say the least.
How awful! Poor girl! That happened to me once. It was the strangest thing and we never knew for sure what made it happen. Hasn't happened since, either. (Actually, I had done some taste-testing at BYU--that's the only thing we could think of. But, I've never been allergic to foods, to my knowledge.) I hope she's done with them now!
I had hives like that a few years back. It turns out I was allergic to penicillin, even though I'd finished my 10 day course of meds 5 days before, it took that long for my body to react. Has she taken any medications? Maybe it was just all the birthday excitement?! Hope she feels better soon!
Nope, no meds. I did read online that viruses can cause hives. She has had a little tiny cold. Who knows!!!??? So far to day she hasn't had any more, so maybe it was just the excitement. I sure hope they are gone.
Maybe it was the green cool whip facial? Just teasing-that is horrible! You need Dr. Jonnie there to help. I'll have him read this and see if he has any ideas! Poor thing-hopefully today she is doing better-how miserable!
Andrew had unexplainable hives this last week as well. Weird! I think it was a virus. Benadryl kept it in check for 2 days. Then it was gone. Good luck!
Poor little sugar-- she's just so cute, though, hives and all.
