Heaven Help Me

I got my first real taste of what being a mother of a teenage girl will be like yesterday.

My sweet Alyssa has NEVER been one for having her hair done all fancy like. She's a ponytail only gal and for the most part I respect that. It practically kills me because she has gorgeous thick hair clear down to her waist. But it is NOT worth the fight to do anything more than stick a ponytail in or maybe a braid.

However, her bangs have been a sore subject between the two of us for several years now. She wanted to grow them out, but refused to let me pull them back into the ponytails. So after MUCH encouraging (and almost down right force), she agreed to get a "swoop bang" cut. But then she never did them and wouldn't let me curl, or pin, or clip them in any way. They just hung in her eyes and they drove me crazy.

This was them on a good day.

So this morning I chopped them off. They look SO much better! But you would think that I beat her with a 2 X 4 and chopped her pinky off the way she carried on about it. Tears for a full 2 hours and then refusal to talk to me for several more. Oh my goodness!! Heaven help me please. How on earth can I raise 3 teenage daughters? It just might kill me.

Her new bangs are SUPER cute! I really like them... I totally understand the whole "bangs" dilemma. Hannah and I are going thru the SAME thing right now. Maybe I'll just cut them while she's sleeping... :)

Hahahahahahahaha- that's me laughing at you.

But not for long because my girls are 7 and 6. One is a silent punisher, the other a screamer. Not sure which I prefer.

I know what you mean. We have been growing out the bangs all year and since my 11 year old daughter inherited my slow growing hair I have renamed DQ, "Violet" from the Incredibles. Sometimes all I can see is one eye. Thank goodness we are finally to the slide behind the ear length or I might have snuck in in the middle of the night and snipped them off. I think we can comiserate together on this one, cause I am clueless. They love you then the next moment they hate you.......

lol!!! OH NNnnnO! LLOOOOk . at. that. face...(me smiling).

Guess who I see? YOU! When I saw that puppy eyed face (poor poor Alyssa...she's devistated!) I thought of YOU!!! She looks so much like you, it's weird.

Anywho..they're oh so very very very cute cute!!!! I really love the bangs, truly, truly. Alyssa has such a cute, cute shaped face, her hair would look good many different ways. Don't be sad...

We so get it...we all love our hair! (me chuckling again thinking, 2 hours?...oh my!). I think Alyssa will blog about this someday, and tell the world about her eeeevil mother who chopped her lovely locks! LOL!!!!!

Hang in there everyone....

Oh Jacob is the same way about his hair. Guess it's the "IN" thing for boys heads to resemble that of mops.

Oh, Elena -- I'm smack in the middle of it all -- the Sweet Girl's 15. All I can say is gird up your loins, girl. That was just a preview. I'm sending you hugs today.

Just a reminder - our sweet girls are in there, somewhere. You just gotta love them through it all.

BTW -- she looks FAB. She'll come to realize that...in a day or two...LOL

Now, I'm off to type up your questions!

First off she looks so pretty! The bangs really do look fab!!

Second, I'm sending you strength girl!! Girls Definately have a mind of their own. In the long run it's good because they will be strong women. In the short run you want to strangle them - ha ha.

Lots of hormones running through your house - that's the real reason the boys and their dads go on those monthly scout campouts ha ha ha!!
Have a happy day. I hope the storm is over!

Oh, I think it's such a cute look! And I never realized how much she reminds me of Abigail Breslin, or however you spell her name. I also can't believe you've made it 10 years and she's just now acting like that. I'm pretty sure my girls have been doing it for a couple years now.

no girls for me. the drama with my boys is enough to make me want to scream as it is.....i think that i would crawl into a hole if that happened to me....just can't take it!

Not that it will help her feel better, but I think they look fabulous! And I have no idea how you're going to get through it, but I'm right behind you!

I remember a little girl's hair that I cut 30 years ago, and she has still never forgiven me. My, my, she looks like in that bottom picture.

Good grief, I left out the word 'you'. She looks like you.

I KNEW you'd bring that up. But for the record, you cut ALL of my hair off! LOL!! Not just my bangs. :)

Oh my, here it starts! I think she looks darling! My 9 yr old is starting with the teenager-ness, and I am starting to get mighty fearful of what is to come! Hope she forgives you before too long!

HILARIOUS! And then NOT! Heaven help us ALL!! I only have one girl right now, but I think I'll have enough fun with her to make up any difference!

I agree with your Mom. She really looks like you in that bottom picture. So cute!!
