While my cousin Larissa was in town, she taught me how to make homemade creme brulee. We've made it several times since and think it is a very fun treat.
Here's the recipe in case you'd like to make your own.
1 1/2 c. heavy whipping cream
6 egg yolks (don't leave any whites)
6 Tbsp. white sugar
1-2 tsp. vanilla
4-5 Tbsp. raw sugar for topping
Whisk yolks and sugar until dissolved. Add cream and vanilla stir til combined. Pour in ramekins. Set ramekins on a cookie sheet lined with a towel (so they don't slip around). Pour bowling water around bottom of ramekins (don't get inside ramekins) to create a water bath. Bake @ 280-290 degrees for about 45 minutes. Flick edge of ramekin to check for doneness. Should be like jello (you don't want it to be runny still). Let cool, then top with sugar and fire.
The best part by far is the burnt sugar on top.
Creme Brulee is SOOOOO good!! Of course the fun part is the awesome torch - ha ha!!
