Movie Review

I always love a good (or bad) movie/book review. Things I know are a must see/read, or for that matter, a must not. So today, I'm telling you all, you must see "Julie and Julia". It's adorable! I really had no desire to see it. None at all. I grew up watching Julia Child on PBS on Sunday afternoons, but I really didn't care enough about her to see a movie based on her life.

Jarom has this thing for theater popcorn. He gets a craving and there is no stopping him. He doesn't care what show is playing as long as he's got his popcorn. It's quite hilarious really. He makes the theater attendant fill the popcorn bucket up only half way, then he runs over, butters and salts, tosses a few times, then comes back to have the bucket topped off with popcorn and then pours more butter over the top. I've got to admit, it is the tastiest popcorn around, and it makes me giggle every time I see him "perfecting" his half filled bucket.

So anyway, Jarom's popcorn craving hit with a vengeance this weekend. The only show that looked even remotely decent was "Julie and Julia". So we went, but I just knew it was going to be boring. I ended up loving it. And I adopted a few new life mottos, "I have A.D.D., that's why I'm such a bad housekeeper.", as well as, "I'm growing right before your eyes." LOL! (Meryl Streep has never been better.) All of you bloggers out there will love it too. So go see it.

We saw it earlier this month and loved it. *Loved* Meryl Streep in this movie. It sure made me miss butter....(darn Weight Watchers!)

Speaking of butter, I laughed out loud at the description of your hubby's theater popcorn "recipe". I watched a man do that very thing the other night when we were at the movies.(come to think of it, it was the night we saw Julie and Julia!!)

Were you guys in Utah 3 weeks ago? LOL

hmmm...interesting. I have to admit that looked like the dumbest movie I have ever seen, but you have perked my interest. I'll accept your chanllenge! P.S. I share the same obsession for buttery movie-theater popcorn!

I'm glad to hear you liked it so much. My friends and I are planning on going to it, but we were going to wait until it came to the cheap theaters. Maybe it's worth the extra cost to go now!

I've heard reviews that Julia Child's 'estate' fought this movie...and also that it's great...so, I'll see if I can't convince someone to go with me :)

I loved the movie, too. I even have "Mastering the Art of French cooking" on reserve at the library. Not that I am going to cook anything. But I want to see what it's like. And see if I can figure out what she was putting in the middle of that duck recipe!

We also have some of her PBS shows on reserve from netflix. I don't know why the estate was objecting to the movie...all things Julia Child are now on the best seller list!

Every year there is just about ONE movie I care to see. Steve could go to a movie every week. So I told him.....this is it! This is the ONE I want to go with you to. He has yet to take me though. Maybe this weekend. So glad you loved it!

Jarom sounds more pregnant than my Natalie. All that she craves is tomatoes and cucumbers. I know, I am suffering. Where are the tacos, burritos, or movie popcorn. I used to be allowed to perfect the popcorn like that, but then my wife stopped it. For some reason she believes it will prolong my life to eat healthier. And even more strange, she wants me to be around longer.

I got to see it while we were in Vancouver (and darn it LeeAnn, I would have gone with you if I had known!)

It was good, but not fantastic.

Meryl Streep did do a great job though!
