Try-It-Tuesday Knockdown

Have you ever wondered if Duncan or Betty takes the cake? No? Well, I have. So just for fun, I decided to have a taste test. Hold on to your seats ladies and gentelmen; this is going to be a battle to the bitter end.

"Let's get ready to ruuuuuummmmmbbble!!!"

Entering the ring we see Duncan in his flashy look-at-me box on the left, with Betty quietly biding her time on the right.

Score: Duncan 1; Betty 0

After the mix up, Betty is looking smooth and a little flat in her pretty pink pan. Duncan's got some depth and and lots of little crunchy bits still hanging around.

Round two score: Duncan 2; Betty 0

Hmmmm....fairly even ground directly out of the oven.

Round three: Duncan 2; Betty 1

Note to the baker: Do NOT, I repeat, Do NOT think that brownies look a little undone and pop them back in the oven "for just a minute more" and then start making sloppy joes. Because if you do, you'll forget said brownies until you smell a slight char in the air and remember you forgot them. Then you'll want to swear or cry or maybe a little bit of both. (Thankfully, they only got a slight bit crispy on the top, nothing was burned or ruined.)

For the final round, gather your highly scientific team and lay Betty on a "Happy Birthday" napkin, and Duncan on a white napkin. Don't forget a glass of milk to cleanse the pallet in between.

The verdict???

Duncan may have won in appearances all around, but Betty had him beat by a mile in taste.

And served with a little hot fudge and ice cream, Betty never looked or tasted better! Way to go Betty!

I {heart} Betty...

Could you just throw in there a side-by-side comparison of the nutrition facts label for me? :)

Seriously, that was great!

I am starting Atkins tomorrow. So there will be no taste testing here. But...we like Pilsbury brownies. Made with the three eggs so that they are cake like rather than fudgy.

I, personally, was not a bit surprised :-). We've always liked Betty over here!

I knew as soon as you started that Betty would win out. We love those ones! We've been buying them for years!

I have always loved Betty - The only thing better is homemade!

Also, I am on a diet so right now I am wishing I could climb through the computer screen and eat that ice cream/brownie yumminess!

I would take either, but you are right the ice cream with fudge is a must!

What a cute post! Love the taste test. Your highly scientific panel was only too happy to help you in your experiment. Such good kids to sacrifice like that. LOL

I'll try to get over my miffed feelings at not being invited to participate...

Looks like next time you need to compare Pillsbury and Ghirardelli, and I probably should be there to referee.

I have always wondered....even though I only buy Betty. Thanks for doing this! And I'm with your mom...only I don't know that you can compare Pillsbury (I think that should go with your first category) and Ghirardelli. But, just in case you do....you could invite me to test. Oh wait....I can't. big bummer :-)

hmmmm...I tend to like Duncan better. But maybe I just don't taste it that much slathered in ice cream and hot fudge :)

LOL. I already knew that. Done this myself! :)

I have a fabulous little fix-me-up for these. I'll post it soon, (I'm making it tomorrow for Shane's birthday. It's his favorite thing!) but first, you know me, I must shoot pictures!!!

It's good for all people who like a little peanut butter with their chocolate now and again!
