Hello Pretty!

After several trips to the store, a few hours, and some choice words, Jarom had my new best friend up and running. So far it's done a great job getting my dishes clean. And I couldn't be more happy not having to do them by hand.

Someday in the future, I plan to remodel the kitchen. This plan also includes switching out the white appliances with either black or stainless steel. The store only had a stainless steel dishwasher in stock, so the decision was made for me. However, the top of it is black so if I decide I can't handle all the finger prints (which you can clearly see in the picture), I might just go with black for the oven and fridge when the day comes.

For right now though, I have a stainless steel dishwasher, white fridge and stove, and gold hardware on the cabinets. It's like a rainbow in my kitchen. :) Just know that over the next 5 or so years, it will all eventually match.

So any opinions as to black vs stainless steel? What do you have? Pros/cons?

I have had stainless, black, white, cream... we've lived a lot of places with a lot of different textures and color schemes...

I'd say that black is WAY easier to keep clean, but I love the look of the stainless. Stainless is much harder to keep looking nice, however. I actually started writing a tutorial on it way, way back and never finished it. Perhaps I should. If I do, you'll know: It's just for Elena. :)

I vote for black/stainless- since all of my appliances (except my fridge, which I don't have funds for now) are black AND stainless. I don't mind the prints. I find them easy enough to wash off with windex.

I'm with you on the finger prints. My dishwasher was supposed to be one that you put the wood front on. However......the floor model we got the great deal on is just stainless. I'm already cringing just seeing it in my garage. Oh well.....

I've only had white before so I don't really have any good experience to give you.

Elena, just so you know, I am living vicariously through you.

That being said, I vote for a stainless steel look with black accents.

My current kitchen is "vintage" 80's, baby. In its time, it was a primo custom kitchen. I've got biscuit colored countertops, a matching fridge and stove. Don't forget the light blue hearts wallpaper!

I know, hate me.

Ha ha - I have done the opposite of you. We have replaced all of our appliances over the last 5 years and got all white. They used to all be black. I liked the black but wanted a new look. Now I love my white and there are no fingerprints. I guess I did it backwards because I had the black when my kids were little.
As long avacado doesn't make a comeback I think it's all good!
Congrats on your new friend!!

Glad your friend is up and running! I don't have much advice on the color. My kitchen is 6 years old, so it is out of date. (can you believe it only takes a few years?) What a bother, its not like you can replace your kitchen cabinets and appliances to keep up with the latest trend! I will be white probably until it comes back in style! Glad your not hand washing!!

I like stainless the best - for looks - but the fingerprints and water spots drive me crazy! However, there are all sorts of stainless steel cleaning wipes out there (by the Pledge etc) and they seem to work nicely...especially when I want to impess anyone who's coming over. Glad to see life is back to normal :)

we had to get a new dishwasher several months ago and its a stainless and i LOVE it. even though it gets fingerprints easy, they aren't hard to wipe off if you buy that stainless steel cleaner. i love the way it looks. beauty is whats important, right? :)

Love your pretty! One day I hope to grow up enough to have Stainless Steel but white will have to do until then! Bummer!

I currently have black. I have wished a few times to have white again because I hate cleaning the top of my stove. But really, I love the look of black! My nieghbor has stainless steel. She doesn't like all the fingerprints... and her fridge is not magnetic on the front, only the sides. Louis thinks this is a feature worth paying extra for, I find it terribly inconvienient. Hope that helps! :)

We actually have something called "clean steel" Ours are all made by GE. It looks exactly like stainless (not just that gray plasticky stuff) but does not get the prints! It is awesome! It is also magnetic. We LOVE it! The look of stainless without the fingerprints and it was even just a little cheaper.

The great thing about stainless steel is even baby oil makes it looks good. I had some friends that did all black and hated it. I know that I have two black sinks that show everything, especially hard water spots. They are a pain to clean. Stainless steel will give you the professional looks for your try-it Tuesdays! There is my vote.
