Pumpkin Farm

For family night this evening we went to the local pumpkin farm. It's always so fun to see hundreds of pumpkins growing in fields. I told Jarom that if I had a ton of land I'd plant myself an acre or two of pumpkins just so I could look at them in the fall.

I also told him that he needs to make his millions so I can build myself a big red barn just for the fun of it. He told me that if he built me a barn, I'd end up putting animals in it. To which I replied, "Just a goat....and maybe a miniature horse." How fun would that be? I've always wanted a goat. I got an eye roll for a response then. (See Miki, even the pumpkin patch got green pumpkins this year.)

Look at the fun display of watermelons.

The watermelons were cool, but my kids are cuter.

After checking out the big red barn and reading the price of $10 per large pumpkin, we decided to head on over to Wal-Mart and get big, orange pumpkins for $3 a piece instead.

It was all fun and games until the sisters started fighting. Gotta keep things real don't they? I was ready to bop them on the heads but Jarom punished them by making them hold hands for the rest of the night. LOL!! Oh were they mad. But it worked.

We ended the night with donuts and eggnog. I'd say it was a success, even with the fighting. These are the things that make a family.

LOL!!!! Hand holding....this strategy just might work! Oh...that's great. It's even greater that you are your complete self on your blog. It's just awesome. And who doesn't love a shout out on a post!!! HOORAY for green pumpkins. It really wasn't me, that made your pumpkins green. That actually did make me feel better. Once again, I didn't even notice the green ones until you said something!

Lastly, so real and funny that you ended up at Wal*Mart. Oh man, your post like a t.v. sitcom all in five minutes. Maybe that's why I'm addicted to my good bloggy "shows".

Oh, I forgot to mention that the picture of Kate is ADORABLE (okay, Jarom too, kind of....lol....make Jarom read what I wrote...lol). Anyway, that picture is so good, someone might get jealous of your beautiful kids! Fortunately, your friends and family know you're not into that....being "one up on everyone else" that is....

Oh but Miki, I do believe my kids are the most gorgeous around. LOL!

We went to the pumpkin farm tonight too! (Fotos of Friday :)!). Our farm looks awfully similar to yours!...but ours sold hot, homemade cinammon donuts---which i ate more than my share of!

I love that Jarom made them hold hands. Bloody brilliant ;)!

Your kids are going to have such fun memories to grow on!

I just have to comment on the holding hands thing. Brilliant, BTW! :-) My dad would always make us sing "Let Us All Speak Kind Words to Each Other" together, until everyone was laughing. (that hymn is a little on the hokey side -- IMO)

These little things will become family stories. You're a great mom making memories with your sweet family. Life is good.

Thanks for sharing your fun night.

holding hands is a good punishment! i think that i'll have to try that one in a while...i don't think that it would work quite yet though.
looks like you had a fun night! and i am soooo glad that i don't have to buy pumpkins...they are just so expensive this year!

I love the "punishment!" But you didn't buy the pumpkins at the farm?? And bought them from walmart? For shame :-)

The place where we get our strawberries does pumpkins, too. The farm is gorgeous. And they have morning glories growing with the pumpkins - the orange pumpkins and the purple flowers are just breathtaking.

We actually joked about getting watermelons this year and carving those instead.

My favorite part of all this was "we ended the night with donuts and eggnog."

You are SO my kind of people. Rock on!

p.s. Loved the pictures, too!

What a fun idea! I don't blame you for not wanting to sink $40 bucks into pumpkins! I will be heading to Walmart as well! That picture of Kate is darling! What a cutie!

I also am so excited to try out the holding hands punishment with my two girls! Sounds hysterical!!

Yes, the are CUTE kids! I love looking at every picture you post of them.

Glad you had a fun time. My kids will be getting their pumpkins from the same "farm" yours did this year. :-)

Love the hand holding. Can't wait to try it.

We still do not have pumpkins. I figure that since the school is going to punish me and make the kids stay home on Halloween day that we will go out then and get the pumpkins. If I wait long enough maybe we can buy them already carved too.....JK.

I'm glad to hear another family loves donuts and eggnog! Some people make me feel like an alien for drinking that stuff!

Elena said...

Camille, I hate to tell you this, but you're not another family. You're related. :)

Yummmmmmmm Donuts!!

My parents used to make us hold hands in the back seat of the station wagon if we fought while in the car!!

And ten bucks for a pumpkin probably would have sent me to Walmart too! That is crazy.

SO FUN! I love that you guys actually have family night. Actually, I'm very jealous. Very. And I love the barn-- I think that is a great thing to spend your millions on!

Oh man, $10 a pumpkin is nothing compared to the $28-$30 per pumpkin I saw at the patch we went to! And people were buying them!!

We went to Wal Mart instead.
