Scariest Moment of My Life

Stevie did a fun question (Well maybe fun isn't the best word. How about interesting?) of the week on her blog. She asked her readers what the scariest moment of their life was. I am curious to hear your scariest moment(s), so I am posing the question to all of my loyal commentors.

What is the scariest moment of your life?

I had to sit and think about this one. I've had many scary moments, but none that really jumped out and said, "This is SO scary you'll never live it down." So I guess I'm going to list a few scary things.

* Carter falling in the deep end at the hotel pool. (Gave me nightmares for days.)

* Halle choking on a nickel. (Had to give her the hiemlich.)

* Almost being hit by lightening on a hike when I was 15. (It hit on the hill right above us. There was a very loud CRACKING sound and then rocks (BIG ones, about 1-2 feet in diameter) came tumbling down the hill and almost hit us on the head. The guy with us took a rock to the leg and was really banged up, but thankfully no one was seriously hurt.)

* A car accident when I was 5. (A train almost hit our suburban, but my dad hurried and turned the wheel and tipped us upside down in a canal instead. Water came rushing in and the front windshield shattered because a mile marker pole came through and pinned my dad to the seat (right at his chest). It ripped his shirt but didn't puncture his skin. My baby brother (Kade) got glass all over in his diaper. (This was the day and age you could hold your babies rather than have them in car seats, and my mom had been holding him in the front seat. And we all hung upside down from our seat belts. This was pretty scary as a kid, but it's even more scary now as a parent.

* Hemorrhaging (is that how it's spelled?) with my miscarriage and thinking I was going to die. But the scariest part of that is that I wasn't scared to die at all. I guess that's probably really a good thing, but when I think about it, it scares me to death. (This just made no sense at all.)

So now share some of you scariest moments. You can either leave them as comments or do your own post if you feel so inclined.

Once again, topped mine! I thought you made total sense about the dying thing. Of course we want to live because we have our families and children we love so much and want to be with, but on the flip side, if you've lived a good life and you know what comes next, I think Heavenly Father grants you a great measure of peace when you are in that kind of situation.

K this comment has nothing to do with being afraid although getting old does frighten the heck(total southeast Idaho word) out of me. Don't worry about calling sis. I can barely remember my own birthday let alone anyone elses. How are you? Hope all is well.

Wow Elena! My heart is pounding and that makes me sick to read all that. I don't want to relive my scary experiences or document them. I hate being scared!! I don't even watch those kind of movies.
I was surprized the Nampa burgler episode didn't make the list. Scared me!

My goodness! You have lived to tell some very interesting and scary times! I can think of exactly two off the top of my head, so I will post on my blog...

The burglar is in the top 10 for sure, but I figured you'd all heard that story before so I didn't add it. Can't wait to hear you stories.

You have had some really scary moments! I really can't recall anything really scary. Other than when I owned my own business and one of my clients threatened to sue me. I knew then that I needed to sell because my blood pressure wouldn't be able to handle it!

I was thinking about your car accident all day today...especially after picking the kids up from school as I pedaled home and tried to not get run over...and I'm just really amazed, and glad that nobody was hurt. It made me think about how, even though you were only five, you were Jarom's future wife, and my future friend. Poor Elena and family hanging upsidedown! Your poor parents.

My goodness. How many lives do you have left? I think I counted 3 near catastrophic events on this page alone...and I think I will count you driving your siblings in that tractor thingy with the bucket up all the way at full speed as another life. That's four.

I know of five, but we're not going to discuss my driving skills here...uh-um...

That leaves five lives left. Who says cats get the only claim on ten chances....we know Elena.

I know you think that your hemorrahaging story does not make sense but I could have written that word for word my self. That exact thing happened to me and I was not scared of dying in at that time either. ? strange. I can see why just one does not jump out at you, my goodness I would have never guessed?

Bad carwreck in highschool--I know I've told you the story, so I'll spare you.

Having rheumatic fever and feeling like i was going to die.

When our neighbors house caught on fire and Brad ran inside to save her dogs, and he didn't come out for what seemed like forever and I thought he had burned up.

*And I can't believe you wouldn't have added when the guy broke into your house! That one would have terrified me good! But SO glad your family survived that car wreck! Wowza!

Guess I wasn't the only one to mention the burglar. That's why I should read the other comments FIRST right :)?!

I forgot all about the hiking incident. I remember always feeling like he took the rock for me--I felt bad he got hurt, but glad it didn't hit my temple like I thought it was meant to!

I don't remember ever hearing about your car accident. That is one of the most terrifying things I can imagine having to go through (especially as a mother!).
