I called them Watkins Sandwiches when I was little. My friend had a recipe book and that's what they were named in it. I even wrote a report in 2nd grade all about how to make Watkins Sandwiches. :) Anyhow, any name you call them, these little diddies make a great meal.
Oh so nice to have a helper in the house! Lookin' Good!
ReplyDeleteThose are so good! I'd forgotten about making those. The kids will be making those for ME on Saturday. With bacon. Mmm...bacon...
ReplyDeleteHas your daughter made fried peanut butter and banana sandwiches (Elvis' favorite snack)? It sounds disgusting but DELICIOUS.
I'd forgotten about the good ol' Watkins Sandwiches!
ReplyDeleteSigh...of course this is the first time I've even these. I think I'm getting tired of this. How many cool things do people do that I just don't know about!
ReplyDeleteWill you ask Alyssa if I can borrow her fantastic idea, and let my kids (and me...sigh) try this out? I think bacon sounds good too. Mmmm.
Great Job little Alyssa! I wouldn't expect anything less since the apple doesn't fall very far from the tree...
Watkins Sandwiches sounds awfully "stuffy"--I think I like egg-in-the-hole better :)! Like you asked.... Alyssa looks like she's doing a great job! Yay Alyssa!
ReplyDeleteAnd now I feel like a fried pb and banana sandwich (actually I just grill mine and dust them with powdered sugar and they ARE deish!).
Hmmm...I've never tried a fried pb and banana before. But I lik pb and toast so I'll bet it's pretty good. I likve the powdered sugar idea too. That makes anything good!. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat do those end up tasting like? French toast sort of?
ReplyDeleteAubrey- It's just fancy toast and eggs. But it makes the kids want to eat it. Go look at Pioneer Woman Cooks or Lee Ann @ One Day at a Time. They both have some step by step instructions for these.
ReplyDeleteWatkins Sandwiches??!! I don't ever remember us calling them that. I remember us calling them Egg-in-a-Nest or Egg-in-Toast, but never a Watkins Sandwich.
ReplyDeleteI have never had those before, maybe I will make them for dinner tonight-- It's just one of those days!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great little helper! If I were so kind, I have a couple of wanna-be chefs in the house! I just don't like crunchy eggshells in my meals. I'm sure Alyssa's good at it by now though. I never knew WHAT to call them. My friend calls them window's. Yummy!!
ReplyDeleteI can't even remember the last time I had those. What a great childhood memory. I guess I should pass it on to my kids, too.
ReplyDeleteThose slices of bread are huge! Or is it just the angle? I wonder if my kids would like those. They've never had fried eggs. Just scrambled. And hard boiled. Hmmm...that reminds me of a recipe that I can do for my blog...
ReplyDeleteGood job Alyssa!
