Boiled Lobster Lady

It's official, summer is on it's way. I got my first burn of the season today. (I apologize for the above picture. It's the best I could get.) Yep, it's been nice here this week. Today I helped with Field Day at the school and came home looking like a boiled lobster. I'm not complaining. I'm glad that the weather was actually warm and nice enough to give me a toasty complexion. Bring on summer!

Also at Field Day, Kate lost a brand new pair of shoes. I searched the entire playground for them, but they were nowhere to be found. And Carter got his first official scolding from a playground duty for throwing rocks. (I just hid my head and gave him the look of death afterwards.) He was playing with Bailey and Alyssa and kept throwing rocks. After his scolding, Bailey was so angry at the duty for being so harsh. She said, "Sheesh, he's only 4! She could have just told him nicely. Not a lecture with the "look at me!" He doesn't know the rules." It was SO cute. She's just like a protective older sister. She is certainly part of the family.

I'm surprised I don't look like that yet! It's 92 here today with 95 predicted for tomorrow. Can you say CRAZY weather?!?! You look very nice all red though :)!

Poor Carter! Hopefully that will be his one and only time getting in trouble at school :)!

I love the way kids' friends just fit right into yours!

Yikes you've got to get some of that coppertone spray on clear no rub sunblock. Worked great for us in Florida. Nice photo! LOL

OHHH MY GOODNESS!!!! Look at YOU!!! Ughhh. Oh Elena!! I'm devistated, and of course, you being my polar opposite, are as happy as a clam (or lobster).

lol (with a head shake)

Poor little Carter. lol. So funny that Bailey was soo protective of him. Good for her. She's definitely (I can never remember how to spell that. I can hear my husband in my head, d-e-f-i-n, and then the next letter, argh!!) anyway, she's a part of the family for sure!!

I am going to sound like your mama. Did you use sunscreen young lady?

Yes, yes, I know all about sunscreen. I even "lathered" my kids up (to use Halle's term). But not myself. I knew I would get some sun and probably a little bit pink. (And I wanted it.) But I didn't think I'd get THIS pink. I usually turn tan the next day, so I'm hoping it will be the same with this. It doesn't hurt that bad, it just looks real pretty. :)

serves me right for laughing. I got baked myself (on purpose with the same line of thinking and rationalizing) Just a little sun=tan. ouch!

I too can empathize! I spent several days out in the garden and flower beds, and I had quite the impressive sunburn. I'm the same though, usually--not too painful and usually turns into a tan relatively quickly. My kids have put on several shades of color already. It's BLAZING HOT here. I hate it!! I want the 70s for 3 months!!! Guess I'd have to move somewhere else for that. Ugghhh!!

Oh my gosh, girl! You got FRIED!! You probably are one of those lucky people who burns, then tans easily, right?

Poor Carter-- those recess aids are mean! Although, I can't really say that rock throwing is a good idea... ;)
