Today we woke up in
Kona, the opposite side from the Volcanoes, on the Big Island. We only had a few hours we, so we decided to spend them snorkeling at
Kailuha Beach. As you all know, I am not a big water lover, but donned my snorkel gear any how and
actaully really enjoyed myself. (Once I quit hyperventilating.) We saw some amazing fish and even a few sea turtles.
Jarom had the time of his life swimming like one of the fish, and now has a pretty pink back. So far
Kona has been our favorite stop and we would love to come back someday to explore it more. This would be a fun place to bring our kids. (But not on the ship, to answer Rachel's question. We'd bring them to
Kona and also to Waikiki.)

Aren't we cute??!! (and on a positive note, my foot finally felt good enough today to actually walk on it.)

One of the sea turtles sunning itself on the beach. They were several swimming in the water, eating algae off the rocks. I LOVED watching them.

A great shot of one of the big fish in the water. We could practically touch them.
Jarom took a bunch more neat underwater shots, before he realized the camera battery was dead.
And just so you all know, we are sitting in the harbor waiting for the boat to sail away, and our dinner reservation isn't for another hour. So that's why I am blogging. I really do have a life while I'm away. :)
For all the
Manwarings reading this... We literally watched the "

Wow! Jarom's going to be peeling from that sunburn! :) Looks like fun! I'm impressed that you got in and swam with such BIG fish. That would have scared me too! Neat experience though. Did you see the temple on Kona Island?
ReplyDeleteKate still remembers you. She even recognized you in your snorkel outfit!
ReplyDeleteGreat photos. Can't wait to IM with you when you get back and we can swap Vacation stories.

ReplyDeleteI LOVE KONA!!! We're already planning a trip back with the kids when we can trust them to swim in the ocean... I'm thinking ten years. I'm so glad you went snorkeling and loved it!
ReplyDeleteLucky! And you look like a hot mama in all these pictures! I can't wait to hear all the details and see all the pictures.
